Real Marriage The Truth About Sex, Friendship, and Life Together by Mark & Grace Driscoll

This is the first time I’ve ever read a book by Mark & Grace Driscoll that I can recall and let me say, it probably won’t be the last! The author is blunt, non sugar coated not beating around the bush, and is clear is what he is trying to accomplish. He is telling us, as followers of Jesus Christ, marriage is not all roses and chocolate, but rather it is a work in progress requiring a lot of thought, prayer, patience and communication with your partner. The author often uses humor in his very to-the-point style of writing.

One thing I really enjoyed was that the author did not shy away from speaking about sexual relations. It is a part of life and marriage and the issue is confronted head on. I find it is especially important in todays society, with all the pornographic nature out there, to confront the issue head on.

I think it opened up my eyes to marriage as our wedding is only 8 months away. But even if you’re already married I’m sure you will enjoy it as well. I would definitely recommend this book to newlyweds or if you’ve been married for 50 years. There’s always something to learn about marriage, it is a never ending learning process.

  1. Linked here from Booksneeze. Was looking at this book as a possible book to review. I like what you had to say about it. I haven't been married 50 years yet, but it will be 30 in less than 3 momths, so getting close! Good review.

BTW, I have a lot of articles on marriage on my blog, Family Fountain, if you get a chance to visit.

  4. The full title is Real Marriage: The Truth About Sex, Friendship, & Life Together, written by the famous pastoral couple Mark and Grace Driscoll. They tell the story of their marriage, go into the differences between men and women, talk about sexual intimacy, and apply the Bible throughout.
