Lifelong Love Affair: How to Have a Passionate and Deeply Rewarding Marriage by Jimmy Evans with Frank Martin

Every marriage has a 100% chance of success! God created marriage to be the most fulfilling and sacred of all human covenants. It was designed to be passionate and rewarding, to meet our deepest needs and desires. And it was meant to last a lifetime. So how do you build an indestructible marriage that is filled with passion, purpose, and excitement? In Lifelong Love Affair, Jimmy Evans shows you and your spouse how to embrace God's dream for your marriage, cultivate romance and fun, and fulfill each other's spiritual, emotional, and sexual needs.
Is it wrong that the cover of this book appealed to me before I even read the description? Maybe I'm materialistic, who knows? But what I do know is that Jimmy sure melted my heart. I felt so much straightforward honesty from Jimmy & Karen being on the brink of divorce and coming back to build on a deep and rewarding (not all roses) type of marriage that it pure and from the heart. I think church groups should incorporate this into a Couples Study group. Spend time with your partner, discuss the issues bothering you, find out what makes each other tick (and avoid it at all costs!), discuss strengths, weaknesses, what you both want and expect from your marriage and build it on the solid foundation so that it will last until death do you both part.

What Your Husband Isn't Telling You: A Guided Tour of a Man's Body, Soul, and Spirit by David Murrow

Your husband learned from an early age to deny his true feelings--and to be silent about his deepest needs. Most men long for greater intimacy with their wives, but they have no idea how to find it. Bestselling author David Murrow breaks the silence--uncovering the central secret of your spouse's heart. He reveals what every husband since Adam has felt but has been unwilling or unable to say. If you really want to know what's stored up in your husband's heart, read this book. You'll not only understand him better, you'll love and respect him more.
This is my second marriage book written by a male in the last two weeks, what eye openers. So men are not really from mars? LOL. When you read this book it will definitely open up your eyes to why a man thinks, acts, and speaks the way he does, it may make sense but it still doesn't make it ok. Ok, ok, I get it, it's the way God made them. But when I get to Heaven the first question I'm asking is why? LOL. This is a pure, raw in-your-face, sorry-I've-offended-you-but-I-am-speaking-truth type of book. If you're easily offended, don;t read it. If you want to understand a man, read it. Simple. A man just needs to be appreciated, loved, respected and told this often. Rewind! So does women! I would like to sit down with David Murrow and write a counter book in response to "What your Husband isn't telling you" I think I'll call it "What your wife IS telling you but you're just not listening!". All jokes aside, this is truly a great read!

The Marriage of Your Dreams: A Woman's Guide to Understanding Her Man by Rick Johnson

The marriage of your dreams may be closer than you think It may surprise you to find that men are fairly simple creatures with fairly simple needs. Understanding and responding to his needs is a positive step that can help him realize and fulfill your needs. And when both of you meet each other's needs, your marriage becomes stronger--and a lot more fun. Relationship expert (and fairly simple creature himself) Rick Johnson gives you an open and honest look inside a man's world. With candor, humor, and insight, Rick shows you how to understand your man, including •his need for respect and admiration •his sexual desires •his communication style •his work •his emotions •his relationship with the "other woman" in his life (his mother) With Rick's help, you'll learn how best to use your considerable influence in his life to have a satisfying and exciting relationship that lasts a lifetime.
It's great to read a book on marriage written by a man for women, no one understands a man like a man. Rick Warren goes on to talk about how a mans Mother plays a key role in his life and influences his life in general, the samegoes for his wife. There are a lot of key points in how men are influenced by different relationships as well as how much more they will try and overcome or accomplish when they have a supportive wife who believes in them. It all comes down to the fact that when you put two different sexesin the same household, united as one, there are bound to be conflicts, issues, etc. but when you keep God at the center of that relationship you can make this the marriage of your dreams. I would reccomend this book to newlyweds, old married couples as well as couples contemplating marriage. Marriage is not all sunshine and roses, there are many road blocks, potholes and you will lose your way. But will God on your side and such great resources as Johnson's book, we can definitely expand our understanding and how to play our respective roles in a relationship.

Vanished (Book 1 in the Private Justice series) by Irene Hannon

“Hannon’s intricately developed characters struggle with complex moral issues, bringing into question whether the ends ever do justify the means. An engaging, satisfying tale that will no doubt leave readers anxiously anticipating the next installment.”-Publishers Weekly "Double-RITA winner Hannon begins a new romantic-suspense series, and this novel’s fast-paced plot and compelling characters (including a surprisingly complex villain) make it an excellent suggestion for inspirational-fiction fans as well as readers who enjoy Mary Higgins Clark’s subtly chilling brand of suspense."--Booklist A tenacious reporter. A skeptical PI. And a secret that will shatter lives. Reporter Moira Harrison is lost. In the dark. In a thunderstorm. When a lone figure suddenly appears in the beam of her headlights, Moira slams on her brakes-but it’s too late. She feels the solid thump against the side of her car before crashing into a tree on the far side of the road. A man opens her door, tells her he saw everything, and promises to call 911. Then the world fades to black. When she comes to, she is alone. No man. No 911. No injured person. But she can’t forget the look of terror she saw on that face in the instant before her headlights swung away. And she can’t get anyone to believe her story-except maybe a handsome ex–homicide detective turned private eye, who reluctantly agrees to take on the case. As clues begin to surface, it becomes obvious that someone doesn’t want this mystery solved-and will stop at nothing to protect a shocking secret.
Hannon never disappoints! Her books are indeed a page turner right from the beginning, she builds the suspense right from the first chapter and it continues right til the end. The characters have flashbacks and helps the reader understand why they do what they do. Hannon also incorporated some romance as well which made you keep wishing for the characters to get together! There is quite the character development between Cal, Moira & Dr. Blaine which helps the reader understand their background and almost made you feel like you knew them all along. You'll find yourself on edge and turning the page to see what's going to happen next! Can't wait for th 2nd book in this series!!

A Killer Among Us By Lynette Eason

Kit Kenyon is a first-rate hostage negotiator. Noah Lambert is a good detective with excellent instincts. The new partners have hardly had time to get used to each other when they are thrown into a grisly murder case. As evidence mounts up and more victims are found, Kit and Noah realize they are on the hunt for a serial killer. The problem is, he's hunting one of them too. With nail-biting suspense, clever plot twists, and a hint of sweet romance, A Killer Among Us is the latest thriller from Lynette Eason. It will keep readers up late as they race to discover the killer--and whether Kit and Noah will live to tell about it.
Not my first Lynette Eason book, nor will it be my last. The suspense she incorporates into her stories are better than any movie going! This is the 3rd in a series but I never read the previous 2. I found there was enough background info that I didn;t need to go back to the beginning (although I am curious since I love Lynette's writing style). Just like the other books I've read by her, just when you think you've figured out who the killer is, there's a plot twist that makes you rethink and it's never who you suspect! I look forward to more books from Lynette and she has hit my favourite authors list!

Momsense By Jean Blackmer

What is the right way to mother? Can a mom trust her intuition? Or should she follow the advice of one of many parenting books? Into this fog of theory and philosophy, MomSense shines a light of refreshing clarity. Through personal stories from real moms and proven, practical advice, MomSense helps moms honestly assess their skills, embrace their mothering instincts, and develop their own unique mothering style. Rather than pushing one "right" way to be a mom, this liberating book shows moms that they are the best mom for their kids and that they can have contentment, joy, and confidence in their role. A perfect gift for a new or experienced mom, MomSense is also an excellent resource for women's small groups and MOPS groups.
I felt this book was more of a by Mom, for Mom's book. I find it's a good book to refer back to time and time again, especially when I feel I'm lacking on patience. There are some great examples and references which the reader can take away and apply to their own lives. My son is only 2 at the moment but it's given me a lot of insight and preparing me for situations which has not yet happened. I myself am also a SAHM which sometimes leaves me feeling isolated from the rest of the world but I found that I'm not the only one who feels this way at times. It helps with the feeling of being overwhelmed and at times you can feel like you're the only one who goes through these things but we're not. I've certainly put myself in check since reading this book. There are issues and things that arise that make me rethink, is this yelling working? what should I do instead? Would definitely reccomend this book to new Mom's or Mom's just feeling overwhelmed, I think everyone can benefit from this book. I have since loaned it to several friends and they said they found the examples more beneficial than a "how to parent book".

The Air We Breathe By Christa Parrish

From the Back Cover From the author of Home Another Way, Finalist for the 2009 ECPA Christian Book Award for Fiction and Watch Over Me, Winner of the 2010 ECPA Christian Book Award for Fiction Molly Fisk Needs the Courage to Face Her Fears. What She Finds Instead is a Most Unexpected Friendship. Seventeen-year-old Molly Fisk does not go outside. For so long she has run away from a moment long in the past, but she's not running anymore, she's hiding. Ruled by anxiety, she can only stare out the window of the tiny tourist-town museum she and her mother call home, longing to go outside--to maybe take a walk with the cute boy who works in the pizza place across the street. Then the chance arrival of a woman Molly knew years ago changes everything. Back then, Claire Rodriguez was an empty shell. Only in the unique friendship she struck up with a little girl--a silent girl who'd only talk to Claire--did she see the possibility of healing. But one day the girl and her mother vanished, their house left abandoned. What happened that drove them away? And how can Claire now offer Molly the same chance at finding life anew?
First off, what great character development and roundness! The author lets the reader deep into the heart and soul of the characters and we can empathize the hurt and know what Molly is thinking. The flashbacks to earlier times help pull this story together and we can see why Molly is the way she is. This book is more like a breath of fresh air letting us know that God is always watching over us and caring for us, even when we don't see him. Sometimes he sends someone to help us, right on time... Would definitely reccomend this book for someone struggling with hurt and the feeling that God has left them. It will certainly stir your soul and leave you fresh and new. I look forward to reading more from Parish!
